Prime Minister Gram Sadak Yojana
Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY)
- Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) is Centrally sponsored scheme and is being implemented in Maharashtra since 2000.
- The scheme is implemented by Rural Development Department through Maharashtra Rural Roads Development Association.
- The Primary objective of the PMGSY is to provide connectivity, by way of an All-weather Road (with necessary culverts and cross-drainage structures, which is operable throughout the year), to the eligible unconnected Habitations in the rural areas with a census 2001 population of 1000 persons and more in non-tribal areas and population of 500 persons and more in Tribal areas.
- At present Government of India has approved the proposal of Unconnected Habitations with population of 500 persons and more in non-tribal areas, population of 250 persons and more in Tribal areas and population of 100 to 249 persons in LWE district.
- Under Phase I to XIII of the PMGSY-I, total road length of 24952 Km. has been sanctioned. (New Connectivity 4564 Km. & upgradation 20388 Km.)
- GoI has launched PMGSY-II in the year 2013, for those states who have completed 100% of the new connectivity and 90% of the upgradation works under PMGSY-I are awarded. Accordingly 2619 km. road length has been sanctioned for Maharashtra under PMGSY-II.
- Out of this total sanction of 27571 kms., up to August, 2019 the total Road length of 26328 km. has been completed.
- Now GoI has sanctioned 364.52 km. road length under New Connectivity for 100-249 population category in LWE areas.
- GoI has changed the Sharing Pattern for ongoing works of PMGSY I & II as 60:40 from November, 2015.
