Providing Basic Facilities Within Villages In Rural Areas As Suggested By Hon. People’s Representatives (Head 2515 1238)
Short Description
For the development of basic facilities within villages, Hon’ble People’s Representatives have demanded the provision of funds for essential infrastructure. Taking these demands into consideration, the Government decided to start the scheme “To Provide Basic Facilities in Rural Areas Suggested by the People’s Representatives” from the year 2008–09.
Under this scheme, various basic infrastructure works are undertaken to improve living conditions in rural areas.
Works to Be Taken Up Under the Scheme
Improvement of internal village roads, sewers, storm water drainage, cremation and burial grounds, protective walls, construction of Gram Panchayat offices, facilities for weekly markets, garbage depots and primary processing units, tree plantation and protection in public places, community halls and temples, public toilets, installation of paving blocks on roads, construction of gymnasiums or akhadas, passenger shelter sheds, libraries, river ghats, gardens and beautification works, street lights, beautification of chowks, and other basic amenities.

Eligibility Criteria
Under this scheme, proposals are required from Hon’ble People’s Representatives such as Members of Parliament (MP), Members of Legislative Assembly or Council (MLA/MLC), and members of Zilla Parishad, Panchayat Samiti, and Gram Panchayat.
Remarks
Considering the budgetary provision and with the approval of the Hon’ble Minister of Rural Development, sanction is provided for works suggested by the People’s Representatives.
