Brief Information about the Scheme
The Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment Award and the Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Award are instituted to encourage and recognize significant improvements in the social and economic development of Panchayats and Gram Sabhas.
These awards, including the Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Panchayat Empowerment Award, Nanaji Deshmukh Rashtriya Gaurav Gram Sabha Award, Gram Panchayat Development Plan (GPDP) Mission Award, and Child Welfare Gram Panchayat Award, are conferred by the Central Government on Panchayati Raj Institutions to promote and honour outstanding performance in governance and development.
Nominations for these awards are submitted through the online system. At the Gram Panchayat level, Block Level Committees and District Level Committees scrutinize the proposals and forward the best-performing Panchayati Raj Institutions’ proposals to the State Government through the online portal.
For verification at the State level, Divisional Commissioner-level committees are constituted. After two levels of verification, eligible proposals are submitted by the State Government to the Central Government through the online system.
Accounts Payable and Financial Provisions (Year-wise)
The award amount is disbursed by the Ministry of Panchayati Raj, Government of India, directly to the bank account of the concerned Panchayati Raj Institutions.
Nature of Benefits of the Scheme
This is an incentive-based scheme for Panchayati Raj Institutions. The award amount received is utilized for group and community welfare activities within the jurisdiction of the Panchayat.
