    Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana

    On the lines of the Pradhan Mantri Gramsadak Yojana, the State Government has implemented the Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana to connect unconnected villages with a population of at least 500 and to upgrade dilapidated rural roads. The scheme was launched vide Government Resolution dated 28 October 2015.

    Under this scheme, administrative approval was granted for upgradation works covering a total length of 30,598 km. Out of this, works worth ₹18,800 crore covering 29,254 km have been completed, while the remaining 1,344 km of works are currently in progress. These works are scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2025.

    Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase-II is being implemented as per the Government Resolution dated 6 January 2022. Under Phase-II, construction and upgradation of 10,000 km of roads has been planned. Administrative approval has been accorded for upgradation of 9,995 km of roads by the end of December 2024. Out of this, 869.37 km of works have been completed, and the remaining 9,610 km of works are in progress. These works are scheduled to be completed by the end of March 2026.

    Further, with a view to upgrading rural roads and other district roads under the Research and Development Programme, and in addition to the Phase-II target of 10,000 km, the Cabinet in its meeting held on 14 February 2024 approved the upgradation of an additional 7,000 km of roads under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojana Phase-II (Batch-I). These works are to be executed using Thin White Topping (TWT) cement concreting technology.

    Considering the large number of rural roads in the State, the Government vide Government Resolution dated 16 March 2024 has approved the upgradation of 23,000 km of Other District Roads (ODR) and Village Roads (VR) in a phased manner.

    Eligibility Criteria

    Roads are selected as per the Road Development Plan (2001–2021) prepared by the Public Works Department for other district roads and rural roads in Maharashtra. Based on this plan, a district-wise core network is prepared for selection of roads. Priority is given to villages having a population of at least 500 and 250 in tribal areas.
