    Maharashtra State Rural Livelihood Mission

MSRLM stands for Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission. It’s an independent and autonomous institution that implements the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM). MSRLM was launched in July 2011.

The Government of India has launched The National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) under the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD). The Mission aims at creating efficient and effective institutional platforms of the rural poor enabling them to increase their household income through sustainable livelihood enhancements and improved access to financial and public services.

The agenda is to mobilize the rural poor and vulnerable people into self- managed, federated institutions and support them for livelihood collectives. In addition, the poor would be facilitated to achieve increased access to their rights, entitlements and public services, diversified risk and better social indicators of empowerment. Further to these objectives, Maharashtra state rural livelihood Mission (MSRLM) has been constituted and registered under the Societies Act 1860 by the Government of Maharashtra with an objective to enhance social and economic empowerment of the rural poor in Maharashtra through development of their self-sustained and community Managed institutions.

This objective is expected to be met through creating an enabling environment where rural poor can access and negotiate better services, credit and assets from public and private sector agencies and financial institutions.

For successful accomplishment of this objective, Mission has designed a three tier management structure at state, district and block levels. At each level, a team of professionals will be recruited to manage the mission and achieve its objective.
